| As I was preparing to do my blog today, I had set on one thing but God moved me to do this one as He had me read through scripture and the one to change it was in Revelations of all books. I love the book but have always had a tough time reading it; that was until now. In Revelation John is the author and writing what Christ wants us to know about how to deal with the sufferings because of how we believe and the preparation of course for His return. Chapter 2 though truly opened my mind and thoughts for today's blog as he is addressing the church of Ephesus. In Chapter 2 : 2-4 we are told the following: Revelation 2:2-4: 2-I know your deeds, your hard work and your perseverance. I know that you can not tolerate wicked men, that you have tested those who claim to be apostles but are not, and have them false. 3- You have persevered and have endured hardships for my name, and have not grown weary. 4- Yet I hold this against you: You have forsaken your first love. Repent and do the things you did at first.
The bible has many scriptures that tell us we need to place God first and foremost; even the ten commandments in Exodus tells us there is NO other God's before God. As I read that and then got to thinking about things, I got to truly focusing and looking at how things had been going in my life. Yes, I was doing what God wanted and yes I was doing what He wanted but the thing that came to mind was that I had not been placing Him truly first. I had been doing things like my job, writing and promoting my book, and even keeping the faith and believing in miracles, BUT I had not been placing God first and foremost at the head of all I was doing - I had not put God as my first love. For God is the first love; the first one in all that we do. He is the one we need to focused on in order to DO what He wants us to. We can do and say we are doing what God wants ; we can place Him in all we do BUT is He truly being the first love ? Are we doing as we had done before in that we placed Him first and foremost ? For many of you if you are like I am, you had not stopped until now to exam what or who is first and foremost important. Yes it is important to do the work God wants you to do yet the main thing is that we keep God as our first true focus and love! Make sure that whatever we do-HE is the first and foremost love of all we do. My question for you today is this then- Have you been doing God's work but forsaken your first love ? Have you forgot through all the "good works" for God you have done the true love of whom we are doing this for ? The Father Himself ? If the answer to this is no as mine was I encourage that we re-evaluate how we are doing things....Look to see if we are placing the one who is the first love; God above it all. We need to place and keep Him in the main focus of ALL that takes place not only what is happened or happening but will happen. I don't want God to be disappointed in me- do you ? Let's change how we do things by returning to our first love.
