| Good Afternoon all. Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. I apologize for not blogging BUT I did get caught up on some much needed rest after the holidays. Speaking of holidays, I came up with so many different blog topics, I was unsure of which one to do BUT because of God and my secretary/best friend, I was able to choose this one,especially as I continue to think about the holidays. Materialism is a huge thing in society today as is the love of money. People in society today can only focus on fitting in with the world today and have the best of things such as clothes, houses, electronics, cars, and more. I wonder however if there is people in society today who truly remember who got them to where they are now. God has a lot to do with how or where many of us are right now yet there are many who focus not on the faith but to the materialism or the money of this world. I see personally anything in which I have or have been given as gifts from God and not something this world has given me. We as a whole society don't acknowledge the fact that it is God and faith that got us where we are but society and the people within. In the book of 1 Timothy 6, Paul explains the following to Timothy as to what Christ has shown him about money : 10- For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs. In society today this can be seen all around the world. For if a person is not "wealthy" then they are nothing and don't fit in to the society that they live in. Well,I can say this, if I have Christ, then that is all I need. For materialistic things are just things of this world; they are things that many see society give them yet I see them as blessings in which God has given us. In the book of Hebrews 13, we are told: 5- Keep your lives free from the love of money be content with what you have because God has said, "Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you."
We are instructed not to worry about how we will live and we are not to have a love for money for whatever we are given it will be given to us not by man BUT by God as long as we trust God. In closing, the love of materialistic things and money should not be our first focus or love. Our first focus and love should be how we can serve God and hold true to faith, believing that He will take care of us and provide for all of our needs. We need to lean on faith and not humanity; for humanity only gives hurt and pain but God will give all. My question to you is this : Are you focused on God or are you focused on money and the materialistic things of this world ? Would you rather as the song goes, "Be in a deep dark grave and know that your poor soul was saved" or "would you prefer to live in this world in a house of gold and deny my God , and loose your soul ?" (Lyrics from A House of Gold). Myself, I would much rather know that my soul was saved than have all the money in the world. Yes, I enjoy have some cash on hand to eat, get gas for my car, and do what needs done, but no amount of money or wealth could give me what God has all ready given me...Christ to die for my sins... For that was the Ultimate Price.
